Frequently Asked Questions

 1.
Does STB employ Western Australians and support the local economy?

Yes we do, presently, we have 6 staff part time or full time employed between design, accounts, deliveries, representative works. We are preparing to employ more as our business keeps growing.

2.Does STB support the local community?

Yes, we give money to specific charities in Western Australia, but furthermore we help out funding works overseas with orphans.

 3.Does STB's foams have CFC's?

No, this comment was used by some of our opponents in a smear campaign to scare salespeople to deter selling our products. All foam comes from Aero foaming company, and the foams used are CFC Free and also toxin free. We have all certificates to dissolve these claims.

 4.
What is the mesh used by some manufacturers?

The ortho mesh used in mattresses by some bed designers is better known as Nylex Gutterguard. It supposibly has enough strength in the mesh to keep your torso supported, but we haven't found enough scientific evidence to continue using this product. Some people believe there is no advantage to this being included in a mattress, so we have taken this advice and redesigned our springs to deal with this issue. Ask your Salesperson if the bed they are trying to sell you uses it, you want to know what you are buying long term can guarantee to look after your back.

 5.Why is it used?

Some companies import a standard spring system and use the mesh as a support for your back. Unfortunately it is a cheap option other than to have to make a true orthopaedic spring system.

6.What is a "roll in" syndrome?

This problem occurs when a company uses too much edge support on their designs, looking for a solid edge. Over time, once a mattress softens up, the edge remains firm and creates a roll in.

7.What do people use to make the edge support?

Companies use different techniques to create edge support. Foam surround box (traditional), calipers, double gauge edging, or polestirine blocks. Even though all techniques are used, we dont support the use of polestirine blocks.

 8.Why so?

Polystirine blocks that are used are the most non biodegradable product you can put into a mattress for a form of edge support. It also cuts down the labour costs to produce a strong edge, hence the cutting of quality for profits.
The biggest issue is the toxidity of the product. Polystirine will release a toxic gas for numerous years if untreated properly with chemicals, and you breathe this in as you sleep. STB refuses to use this on that grounds, as we want to give our customers a healthier, good night sleep.

9.How do we deal with our warranties?
Our local factory has the ability to repair any warranties under the manufacturers warranty system.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any problems or concerns.
